Strange Things Happen at Sundown has been given the great honor of being chosen to be screened at the prestigious Tribeca Film Center in Lower Manhattan as part of the New York City Horror Film Festival! Check back soon - we will post the date, time and more info as we get it!
09.01.2003--Updates, updates, updates!
  • Friday night we recorded our drunken commentary for the DVD. A good time was had by all, and we think it came out pretty funny. Personally, I was thinking 'What the hell are we going to talk about for 2 hours and 15 minutes?' but let me tell you, we could have gone on for at least 4 hours. I hope everyone enjoys all the stories and anecdotes we got on tape. We would also like to thank Joe Devito, the infamous Jimmy Fangs, for coming down and helping us out. He was by far the quietest of the bunch, but with the insane-o-rama crew, that's not saying much.
  • As of today we have the preliminary box art for both the US/Canada and England releases of Strange Things. Click on either picture to see the full sized version.

Yes, we realize there is an "E" missing at the end of "Strange".
It will be correct in the final version.
  • We are proud to announce that we have received a rating of  EM from the Film Advisory Board, which is roughly equivalent to the MPAA's R or NC-17, depending on content. Click on the logo to check out the Film Advisory Board's page.
  • That's all for now, but please check back for some biiiiiiig news coming soon!!

It was great to see everyone at the premiere yesterday and we all hope you guys got a kick out of seeing yourselves on the big screen! Now that we have distribution, and we can officially consider ourselves a movie - you will be happy to know that each and every one of you in the movie can get to Kevin Bacon in only 4 degrees (except for Jasi, Melissa and Josh who can get there in 3)!
1- YOU were in "Strange Things Happen at Sundown" with Melissa Bacelar and Jasi Cotton Lanier.
2- Jasi Cotton Lanier was in "Toxic Avenger 4" with Corey Feldman.
3- Corey Feldman was in "The Burbs" with Tom Hanks.
4- Tom Hanks was in "Apollo 13" with Kevin Bacon.

You to Kevin Bacon in 4 degrees!
Special thanks to Frank Roccisano, an insane-o-friend for the research!

Ask not what Insane-O-Rama can do for you, ask what you can do for Insane-O-Rama! Marc has entered us into the Vampire Top 100 and since our movie kicks everyone else's ass, we should be at the top of this list! Show your support by clicking on this link or the one on the main page every day!

To my bloodsucking vampires, writhing victims and drooling zombies:
STRANGE THINGS HAPPEN AT SUNDOWN soon to be at a video store near you!!!!. Yep, you heard it right. We've been doing a lot of wheelin' and dealin' in the last 3 weeks since the movies completion. The reviews are coming back solid, the screenings have been wildly successful, and distributors are falling over themselves offering us contracts. We just had our 600,000th hit on our website, and there appears to be a real buzz about this movie in the underground film world. Is Strange Things Happen At Sundown really that good? You're damn right it is! We signed with Vivamorem Entertainment , who is shopping the movie for distributors in Asia, Europe and South America. A distributor in Great Britain has already picked us up, and more are said to be showing A LOT of interest! So the really good news is, not only will you reach audiences in far away lands, you're voices will be dubbed in many, many exotic languages!
But I know what you're thinking... What about here? In the good old USA? Well, if you've always dreamed of walking to the corner video store and pointing out a movie on the shelf and saying, "I'm in this movie, foaming at the mouth and eating someone's intestines!", well, guess what? That dream will soon be a reality. We signed with Brain Damage Films, a small but well known distribution company that deals mainly in digital video horror films, like ours. Unlike most of the other distributors we've been talking to, Brain Damage films has only a few movies that they deal with, and all of them have found their way into the big chains - Blockbuster, Hollywood video, Walmart, etc etc.
Now, I know many of you have been asking for copies. I promise you, they're on the way. But it will take a month or so. We are still awaiting the copies from the dub house. We'll be giving copies away at the premiere, and then mailing out copies to those that can't make it. (Note from the Webmistress: Just a reminder that if you do not RSVP by the June 1st deadline we cannot guarantee you a seat!) We promised you copies when we had you all rolling around on the floor, covered in blood and slime and whatever other substances we felt like slopping on you that day - you'll definitely get a finished copy of the movie. It's the least we could do... (I know most actors NEVER get their promised copies from film companies, but Insane-o-Rama always strives to rise above the rest of the pack.) So be patient, they'll be in your hands in no time.
Anyway, it's looking like, at this moment, that Strange Things Happen At Sundown will receive a November release at a video store near you. We'll be sure to keep you posted!
-Marc

In case you did not get the e-mail - here it is: I am pleased to announce that the big screen premiere of "Strange Things Happen at Sundown" will be Saturday, June 21, 2003 at the Anthology Film Archives located at 2nd Ave and 2nd Street, New York, NY . Start time will be 1pm. The full address for those of you who need to enter it into mapquest for directions is:

32 2nd Avenue
New York, NY 10003 USA
Anthology Film Archives Phone Number: (212) 505-5181

As a "thank you" for all those who put so much time and effort into the movie, the screening will be free for all cast and crew of "Strange Things". You are welcome to bring guests, family and friends, but we will ask that all non-cast and crew donate $5 at the door to help defray the cost of the theater.

If you plan on attending the premiere, please send and e-mail to insaneorama@insane-o-rama.com and let me know if you intend on bringing any guests, and if so - how many. We would like to fill the theater if possible and this will help up get an idea of how many of our own family members we need to bully into coming.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Ok, for all of you who would like to order a copy of the poster from shutterfly, here is the link: http://www.shutterfly.com/osi.jsp?i=67b0de21b339cb8145dc There are 4 pics in the album so make sure you choose the correct one for the size of the print you are ordering. Each picture is named appropriately for the size of the print it can be used for; the 8x10 pic WILL look cut off in the initial slide show or the small preview pictures, but fear not, if you are ordering an 8x10,11x14 or a 16x20, the proportions are correct you will see in the final preview. As long as you have selected the correct file, it should be fine. Note: neither of the two sizes will work for a 5 x 7 print (shutterfly does give you the ability to manipulate the pictures; if you would like to try to make it work you are more than welcome!)

So, it's almost the end of April already and still no premiere. However, we have not been completely useless.
  • Movie, done. We have had several mini-screenings for friends, family and a few of the main actors and reviews have been quite positive.
  • On the distribution front Strange Things has gotten some interest from both domestic and international parties. In fact at this very moment we are putting together a package that will go with the movie to the Cannes Film Festival, where hopefully our movie will impress the hell out of everyone resulting in people all over the world paying us a lot of money to distribute it in their respective countries.
  • Last friday we had an improptu photo shoot with the lovely Melissa Bacelar (or as we all know her, Vicky) for potential poster shots. Here are a few samples:
    Melissa_photoshoot
    Melissa_photoshoot  Melissa_photoshoot  Melissa_photoshoot

Thank you Stefano for your lovely work as always. Here is the poster/one-sheet we put together, and as a treat to all you crazy fans out there, if you click on the pics you will get a full size 8 x 10 to put on your walls.
    Strange_Things_poster  one_sheet_back_side

If anyone is interested in getting a high quality print out for a couple of bucks I can upload the original gigantic file to shutterfly so you guys can purchase copies from there (none of the proceeds will go to insane-o-rama, this is purely out of the goodness of my heart). Just drop an e-mail to webmistress@insane-o-rama.com and let me know. (Plus, the update would not be complete if I didn't find a way to work in the link to my e-mail at least once!)
  • Regarding the long awaited premiere - now that we are ready, the theater is full for the month of May so we are looking at either the first weekend in June, or perhaps one of the last two (thanks for going to Spain Gonzo!). No definite date scheduled yet, but when we have one, it will definately warrant another update.
  • And finally, this Saturday (April 26) we will be at the Chiller Theatre convention in New Jersey. As we do not have a booth AGAIN, we will just be there as consumers and stealthy networkers, but if you are going to be there, let us know and we'll look out for you!
03.15.03 --
Well, this isn't really a production update per se, but I am quite pleased to announce that our own Masha Sapron has been elected one of the March 2003 "Scream Queens of the Month" from www.screamqueen.com - click on her picture to see the page!

As far as the movie goes, we would have a final master copy right now if it wasn't for the fact that due to the impending war, we can't get our hands on a damned deck! Insane-o-rama is now officially anti-war (disclaimer: the opinions expressed by the webmistress in now way indicate the actual opinions of Insane-o-Rama Productions.) We are still aiming for a mid to late April premiere and hopefully we will be able to offer copies sooner. Stay tuned . . . .

Another update already? Why yes. While finishing the movie, Marc went on a bit of a trip down memory lane, and wants to share his heartfelt words with the talented cast. Click on the envelope to check it out.

Oh, and if you didn't get one in the mail, that means you are not on the cast/crew mailing list and you will not be getting an invite to the premiere, so you'd better send me your e-mail address!
02.03.03 --
Okay, so I've been a bit of a slacker with the updates, I take full responsibility and fully apologize. I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving, appropriate winter holiday around the time of the Winter Solstice, and New Year! Now for the updates:
  • We have found a theater in the village willing to show our movie, so get ready to see yourselves on the big screen, or if you are in NY, to finally see Strange Things Happen at Sundown! I will be sending out e-vites, so make sure your contact e-mails are correct! If you have never gotten anything from insaneorama@insane-o-rama.com, I either don't have your e-mail or there was a typo in it, so drop me a line at webmistress@insane-o-rama.com.
  • We also have some cool banners that our new friend Katie Chainsaw (thanks Katie!) made for us that I will be sprinkling about the site so click around some of the pages and check them out! Feel free to post them on any and all newsgroups, chat rooms, message boards and spread the love for Insane-O-Rama and Strange Things Happen at Sundown! That's all for now, thank you all for your continued interest and your support! And just for the fun of it, here is one of Katie's banners . . .

Sooooo close. The ending is in sight. As I type these words, the insane-o-brothers are in the basement finishing the score and song for the closing credits. Check out the photo page for some pics of them doing their thing. Since the last update, we also visited the lovely and talented Masha Sapron in her humble abode and she recorded all her voice overs. Here are some pics:

Some Insane-O-Rama updates:
  • Fear not, the Insane-O-Posse have not been slacking off since shooting ended. We have been editing like mad and the movie is 99% edited (if you were to watch it right now, it would cut off right in the middle of the finale. Trust me, I know.)
  • We are recording the music and also have recorded some really vile sounding sound effects. I will be sure to put a sample of the really gross stuff up for you to enjoy.
  • It looks like there will be a combination wrap party / screening in the very near future . . . it promises to be an exciting event! Watch your mailboxes for the official invitation, it will be an RSVP only event. If you are not a member of the Insane-O-Rama mailing list and you would like to be, please send me e-mail to and I will add you asap. Please specify if you are a cast or crew member, or just a loyal fan! (Uh, if you happen to be a relative of the cast or crew, please just lie and say you are a fan)
  • Insane-O-Rama Productions is actively seeking investors in the company and distribution for Strange Things Happen at Sundown. Any interested parties please send an e-mail to the producers at Tonemeister@insane-o-rama.com.

  • This past weekend was our final shoot with Jocasta (Amy) and we did some re-shoots and leftover scenes with Scott (Marcel)
  • We also did some closeups of stabbings and impalings, completing what is surely Scott's favorite scene in the movie.
